I haven't exactly picked up much comments here yet. But it should be good for future reference and encouraging people to think about their views and share them as well. As always, I'd be keen on encouraging the sharing of some diverse views on what hell is or isn't, and why people believe it, but it'd be a bit tough to get a friendly discussion going about this: too many of us here are just too keen on relying on solid evidence, hence lacking any belief in, or any care about, any sort of afterlife.

So it is probably best to come back to this later, when we've got more interesting diversity in the commenter-population, with friendly communication styles (NB!!)

Good question. And no, I don't think so. You have no dog in this fight. Anyone lacking an unhealthy curiosity about such dog fights wanting to see blow-by-blow (bite-by-bite) details of such fights, will probably find it to be a waste of their time.

Bleh, played that metaphor too much, but it refers to a letter mentioned in the first vid. (Some guy wrote in with "here's my thoughts, though I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm not a Christian.)

Everyone except the person in question in the italics section below: do skip this comment of mine, I'd love to have a conversation about what you feel inspired to comment on. I specifically don't want all the conversations' direction to be dictated by the presence of only one or two people. Still, I feel like writing this bit in preparation:

Amanda, you're going to like some of this thing's contents. In particular, you're going to want to quote some of these verses at emergents, and send them to hell with them. Of course, the opposite also happens: emergents believe they're living as close to the gospel as they possibly can (did you know the early Christians called themselves "people of The Way"?), and that those that are not living out love and compassion are the ones referred to in the verses in question.

Me? I'm not attending a church anymore, though I try to listen to sermons I download. So regardless of who the hypocrites are, I'm not "infiltrating" anything... Of course, you're still welcome to send me to hell with the verses I'm referring to, I don't mind: it should be quite clear from previous posts that I lack any inkling of fear about that whole concept.
