I popped into Stellenbosch Gemeente again today.
I had this idea of visiting churches around Stellenbosch, and blogging about it, mentioning what makes sense and what is rather tricky to translate, and what does not make sense.
I was absolutely dumbfounded. Usually, the “praise and worship” at the start would be most challenging to translate. Even that made complete sense. This time, everything made sense. The sermon? Bang! Spot on. This was so what I needed or wanted to hear, or it echoed or confirmed a lot of what I’ve been thinking or doing or saying lately…
It seems I’ve figured out how to make sense of everything. I’m so happy!
And, get this, Staind was touted as prophets for a new generation… Su-weet!
Staind – Outside
And you
you bring me to my knees
Again
All the times
That I could beg you please
In vain
All the times
That I felt insecure
For you
and I leave
My burdens at the doorBut I’m on the outside
And I’m looking in
I can see through you
See your true colours
‘Cause inside you’re ugly
You’re ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real youAll the times
That I felt like this won’t end
It’s for you
And I taste
What I could never have
It was from you
All the times
That I’ve tried
My intentions
Full of pride
But I waste
More time than anyoneBut I’m on the outside
And I’m looking in
I can see through you
See your true colors
‘Cause inside you’re ugly
You’re ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real youAll the times
That I’ve cried
All this wasted
It’s all inside
And I feel
All this pain
Stuffed it down
It’s back again
And I lie
Here in bed
All alone
I can’t mend
But I feel
Tomorrow will be OKBut I’m on the outside
And I’m looking in
I can see through you
See your true colors
‘Cause inside you’re ugly
You’re ugly like me
I can see through you
See to the real you
Anyway, this post is “out-of-schedule”, with two posts per day for the next few days, I’ve got to keep things short.
