Changed my mind about themes... previously I looked for a two column layout (similar to the default). Recently, I realised the right sidebar is getting too long, and I should go to a three-column layout. The most popular 3 column layout that supports widgets, looks very nice:

Cutline 3-Column Split 1.1

Super-popular isn't ideal. At least if I figure out an image to place at the top, it won't look exactly the same as all the rest... Now what image to use... ponder...

In terms of Wordpress themes, it's a subjective decision, so I will decide at a whim. I have a most likely candidate, and I have a shortlist (generated from the 45 most popular themes, with strong bias for the last 15, as they were more recently added and not pruned aggressively yet). I decided I probably want something simple, with two columns and side-bar on the right, preferably light in colour, with comment links below posts. My shortlist currently contains, in order of popularity:

misty look

i feel dirty

light

orange crush
